The competition in the budget-friendly quad-core smartphone category in India continues to heat up, with WickedLeak now joining the party with their latest offering, the WickedLeak Wammy Titan 2. As is the case with all other low-cost quad-core smartphones in the country, the Wammy Titan 2 is powered by a 1.2 Ghz quad-core MediaTek processor.
Here is a quick look at the specifications of the WickedLeak Wammy Titan 2 -
- 5.3-inch IPS display with 960×540 resolution
- 1.2 Ghz quad-core processor
- PowerVR SGX544 GPU
- 1GB RAM
- 4GB internal storage, expandable via microSD up to 32GB
- 12MP rear camera, 5MP front camera
- 2,300 mAh battery
- Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
- Dual-SIM support (2G + 3G)
While the qHD display of the Wammy Titan 2 doesn’t match up to the 720p resolution of the Micromax A116 Canvas HD, the WickedLeak device boasts a competition-leading whopping 12MP rear camera, and even a 5MP front camera! The device comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on-board, but the company promises an upgrade to Android 4.2 in July, which is great. Of course, Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie is expected to be announced by then, but it is a significant step that Indian manufacturers are assuring software upgrades for their devices, which has been a big letdown in the past, as far as budget-friendly devices are concerned.
The WickedLeak Wammy Titan 2 is available from the company website at Rs 13,990 (~$269) here, and will also be available in retail stores in Mumbai from March 21, and from over 75 outlets across the country from the 29th of this month. If you’re looking for a large Samsung Galaxy Note 2-like alternative, and are an avid amateur (smartphone camera) photographer, the WickedLeak Wammy Titan 2 should definitely be in your consideration.
What are your thoughts? Will you be picking up the WickedLeak Wammy Titan 2? Do you think Indian manufacturers will be able to maintain the software update cycles that they are promising? Let us know in the comments section below.
