Boy, that escalated quickly! 48 hours ago nobody even knew about the existence of a soon to be released HTC Desire X phone, and now we’ve seen the new handheld in all its splendor and we also know (or think we know) pretty much all of its tech specs.
After some Swedish and Norwegian online listings revealed the phone’s identity and name, the good guys over at ePrice are saying they’ve spotted the Desire X at a promoting event in Taipei.
While we can’t be 100% sure that ePrice’s claims are legit, there’s a whole bunch of photos and posters starring the Desire X, and we have no reason to think those aren’t real. Starting with the beginning, let’s say that the new phone will be coming in at least two different coatings (white and blue), both designs being sleek and stylish.
The Desire X was photographed next to the high-end One X in a couple of these fresh new images, which illustrate exactly how tiny the new phone will be (120 grams weight and 9.3 mm thickness). The camera design and logo placing are quite different between the two handhelds, but other than that the upcoming mid-ranger should not be any less elegant than HTC’s current “hero” device.
In terms of hardware, the new photos and docs confirm what we already knew about the Desire X: that it will come with a 4-inch Super LCD WVGA screen with 800 x 480 pix res, a dual-core 1 GHz Snapdragon processor (still an unmentioned model), 768 MB of RAM, a 5 MP rear-facing camera, and Beats Audio.
Aside from these details, there are some juicy new ones, which make the Desire X a pretty desirable phone after all. It therefore seems that the 4-incher will be running Android 4.0.4 ICS out of the box with Sense 4.0 on top, and will feature 4 GB of on-board storage, microSD support, as well as 25 GB of free Dropbox memory.
The 5 MP camera has been revealed as an above-average shooter with LED flash, F/2.0 aperture and HTC ImageChip, while the phone will also be coming with Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. The icing on the cake could be the device’s 1,650 mAh removable battery, although this particular detail is more of a GSMArena assumption than a fact.
In terms of pricing, based on the European listings from a few days ago, the mid-ranger will probably go for €290 (the equivalent of $360) across the Old Continent. As for the States, we’re guessing it won’t end up costing more than $300 when and if it’ll come.
There are still a few things to be unraveled about HTC’s Desire X, including its exact release date and whether or not it will be a dual-SIM phone. Fortunately, we are only hours away from IFA 2012’s official kick off, and we’re ready to bet this gadget, hopefully along with others from HTC, will be presented to the public in a more organized fashion.
