While most Android manufacturers usually go out of their way to protect the privacy of their new gadgets before the official unveilings, Lenovo went on a different path with the company’s latest tablets. These were teased on their official website for almost a month now, and the only things left to be unraveled were some of their tech specs, the exact release dates and price tags.
It was fairly predictable that the formal announcements were due to happen at the IFA in Berlin, and they just arrived a couple of hours ago. The IdeaTab A2109 is the first of the bunch to get a dedicated post on our website, being already up for sale at Best Buy.
Sporting a 9-inch LED display with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution, the A2109 looks like it could fit nicely in that gap between mid-range and high-end tablets. The panel is certainly not stunning, but the 9-incher is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 CPU that makes it an above average gadget for gaming and multimedia playing.
In terms of design, Lenovo’s new slate seems like an equally elegant, slim and sturdy product, having a strong and premium-looking aluminum rear encasement and weighing around 1.3 pounds. If we would be in a joking mood, we would say that Lenovo might have a lawsuit coming (from we know who). We’re not, so we’ll only say that the A2109 looks good, but not very “special”, with the same old slightly rounded rectangular edges and aluminum sides we’ve seen at so many tablets in the past.
We’ve mentioned that the IdeaTab A2109 is already up for grabs at Best Buy, where it currently goes for $299.99. The tab is listed as the “IdeaPad A2109″ on the retailer’s website, but that’s most likely just a typo. Then again, Lenovo is yet to announce the 9-incher as officially available for sale, so you might want to wait for a possibly better deal.
Anyone interested in the A2109? Is it too expensive at $300? Would you have liked some better cameras and a microSD card slot, even if those would have upped the price even more? Let us know in the comments section below.
