Do you remember the times when it took carriers and retailers three, four, six months or even more to discount the price of a newly released phone? And then they only took 5 or 10% off the initial price? I know, it seems like yesterday… Heck, sometimes that still happens.

Not the Motorola Droid Razr M though, who got its first price cut less than 24 hours after its release. That’s right, we literally just saw the phone starting selling over at Verizon for $99.99, and now a major retailer already has it for $79.99.
Now I’m not that good at math, but, if I’m not mistaken, that’s a 20% discount of a handheld that many seriously considered buying at the initial price. To be honest, we didn’t think the Razr M was worth the $100 Verizon asked for it, especially after seeing the Galaxy S3 available for that exact same price tag. At $80 it’s surely starting to sound much better, though at $50 (yeah, we’re that greedy) we would totally be like “shut up and take our money”.
Some of you conspiracy theorists might have already started thinking that there’s something wrong with the Droid Razr M. And yeah, cutting the price of a phone so early after its release could sound suspicious at first.

However, think of it like this: Motorola unveiled the Razr M at the same time as the Droid Razr HD and the Razr Maxx HD. Both of those phones have much more to offer than this mid-ranger, and they’re only supposed to start selling at slightly higher prices than the M (probably $199 and $299).
Moto also has a new Intel-powered handheld to unveil very soon, so the Razr M only has a very small window of “exclusivity” over these high-end devices, in which it should sell rather decently. Thus it becomes logical that, in order to be in the spotlight in this small window, the M needs some price movements.
If the Droid Razr M sounds appealing at $80, all you have to do to take advantage of the deal is to head over to Wirefly, pick the white or black model, and either go for a new 24-month Verizon contract, or add more lines to an existing account. In both cases, you’ll get free standard FedEx shipping, and best of all there’s no mail-in rebate or another scheme like that to get you to pay more money upfront.
Wirefly doesn’t have the deal as a limited one, but you should still hurry up and order your Razr M if you don’t want the stocks to run out on you. As for the phone’s specs and features, these are quickly summed up here and here, so go through them to make you sure you make the best decision.
