Samsung has continued with plans to roll-out the Galaxy Rugby LTE smartphone. We saw the handset come available with AT&T in the U.S. (as the Galaxy Rugby Pro) and then just a few days back with Telus. And a bit more recent, the Galaxy Rugby LTE has also come available with Bell.
Bell has the handset priced at $79.95 on a three-year agreement and $449.95 for those looking to avoid the commitment. Just to make the comparison with Telus. They have the handset priced at $49 (three-year) and $460 (no-term). Of course, pricing aside, it is always important to buy a handset based on which carrier has the better coverage where you live, work and/or play.
Pricing out of the way, lets get into those specs. The name offers a bit in that the handset does bring support for the Bell LTE network and it is rugged designed. That is not where the perks stop though. The Galaxy Rugby LTE is a push-to-talk device. In addition, the specs include a 3.97-inch (480 x 800) Super AMOLED display, dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 5GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera and a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera.
The Galaxy Rugby LTE is running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and has business ready features such as Mobile Device Management and On-Device Virtual Private Network (VPN) functionality. Finally, touching on that rugged design, the handset has the IP67 rating which means it has passed “stringent” military spec testing and is both water and dust proof.
