Since it shed its beta skin in June, the Chrome for Android app hasn’t gotten many updates from Google. While the browser is fast and stable enough, it’s still lacking some features found on the desktop version.
What can we expect to see from the new version of the mobile browser that’s just been pushed out to Google Play?
As per the changelog, the new version doesn’t seem to bring any new features. The “What’s new” description only said that it comes with “a number of stability fixes and performance improvements.” That’s fine and dandy, as we always welcome the speed boost.
However, further digging on Google’s Chrome Releases blog reveals that version 18.0.1025464 of the app also brings support for the upcoming Nexus 4 smartphone and the Nexus 10 tablet. Seeing that Chrome comes pre-installed on all new Nexus devices, perhaps there are some bugs on the shipped browser that needed exterminating.
