A new day, a new set of Huawei Ascend P2-related leaks. After seeing the upcoming beast wave to the public in a couple of unofficial photos less than 24 hours ago, it’s time for a second date with Mr. Blurrycam.
And if that’s not enough to keep you on your toes, we also have a pic with P2’s first benchmark score. What should we start with?
Well, let’s get the phone’s design out of the way first. A design that appears to be stylish, but not very fancy. Is that a bad thing? Not at all, because you don’t have to be funky-looking to be classy. And the P2 does look pretty classy.
This fellow’s predecessor, the Ascend P1, had an ultra-thin profile, and, while the P2 doesn’t look awfully chunky, it’ll probably measure around 10 mm in depth. Still, this is definitely not an ugly phone, so let’s move on to what’s beneath the hood.
Or what’s not, because today’s leaked AnTuTu result seems to crush hopes of seeing an 8-core CPU powering the P2. Then again, that was never a real possibility, was it?
As far as the actual score goes (16,862 points), that’s promising, but not impressive. We know benchmarks can be tricky and no result is set in stone, but we can’t take the Ascend P2 seriously when it’s so easily overcome by HTC’s J Butterfly.
Before wrapping up, a quick reminder on the device’s rumored specs – 1.5 GHz quad-core Hisilicon K3V2 CPU, 2 GB of RAM, Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean, 4.7-inch 1,080p display, 13 MP camera and 3,000 mAh battery. MWC should host P2′s debut, while pricing could start at under $500. Anyone (still) interested?
