Although LG’s Nexus 4 seems to be the talk of the town lately, it would be foolish of us to completely disregard another LG handheld soon to be released – the Optimus G. Especially after we’ve reviewed the big guy and come to the unsurprising conclusion that it’s one of the best, if not the absolute best phone Android has to offer right now.
The Optimus G is ready to see the light of day in both the States and Canada, and, while not all is certain regarding the phone’s pricing and availability, the pieces of the puzzle are starting to fall into place.
Stateside, the 4.7-incher will cost $199.99 with a two-year contract from both AT&T and Sprint. The former is already taking pre-orders and will put the phone up for sale on November 2, while the latter will begin shipping a bit later, on the 11th.
Meanwhile, up north in Canada the only carrier to have the G up for pre-order is Rogers, who’s charging $129.99 with a three-year contract and $599.99 outright. Rogers however is mum on the phone’s release date, while Telus, Bell and Sasktel, the other three carriers confirmed to sell the G, had nothing to announce on both pricing and availability until now.
Bell and Sasktel are still silent, but Telus has come forward with a different tactic than that employed by Rogers. The number 3 Canadian wireless service provider has announced that the Optimus G will be coming on November 13, but is yet to detail pricing.
We can’t imagine Telus undercutting Rogers though (after all, 130 bucks sounds fair for such a cool phone), but we also don’t think it will up the price. As for the release date on Rogers, we’re guessing it will be on or around the 13th of November too, seeing as the carrier is currently holding a “pre-order or reserve the LG Optimus G and win a 47-inch LG Cinema 3D Smart TV” contest that will end right on the 12th.
Your move, Bell and Sasktel!
