With Android 4.1 Jelly Bean rolling out so slowly to most high-end devices, it’s pretty easy to forget to give credit even where credit is due. Asus, for example, cannot be judged by the errors of its peers, doing at least an above average work in updating tablets to JB.
We’ve seen the Transformer Prime, Transformer Pad Infinity, and Wi-Fi only Transformer Pad 300 all officially bumped to the next software level, while the OG Transformer TF101 is rumored to get the same treatment “soon”.
Now the LTE version of the Transformer Pad TF300 is itself being upgraded, so we can finally say that Asus’s full 2012 line of Tegra 3-powered slates is in tune with the times. If you’ve been craving for Jelly Bean’s buttery smooth experience on your LTE-enabled 10-incher, all you have to do is go over to Asus’s official download page and grab the Android 4.1.1 update, version 10.4.3.6.
The software package weighs in at a pretty hefty 410 MB, but trust us, you won’t regret flashing it. Aside from a tweaked UI and several performance enhancements, you’ll also get Google Now, the intelligent personal assistant we’ve seen kicking Siri’s you know what so many times in the past.
The upgrade should work smoothly on any LTE-enabled Transformer Pad 300, be it rooted and treated with unofficial custom ROMs before, but just to be sure, don’t forget to back up your data before getting underway.
Have fun and don’t forget to let us know if you encounter any problems while trying to update.
