Samsung officially ended the rumors and announced the Galaxy Music smartphone back in early October. Since then we have heard a few reports of availability, such as for those in the UK. And well, as of today it looks like the handset is heading to Australia. The carrier will be Optus and the handset will be available beginning on November 15.
The Samsung Galaxy Music is heading to the pre-paid device lineup with Optus and will be selling for $149. In addition to grabbing the Galaxy Music direct with the carrier, those who are interested will also be able to make a purchase at select retailers including Dick Smith and Domayne. The Galaxy Music will be available in two colors — white and/or blue.
Otherwise, the specs include Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with the TouchWiz user interface along with a 3.0-inch (320 x 240) touchscreen, 850MHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, 1300, mAh battery and a 3 megapixel rear-facing camera. In addition, the handset has dual front stereo speakers, an optimized music player with dedicated music player button and of course, the Samsung Music Hub.
All said and done, the Samsung Galaxy Music is certainly not what we would consider a high-end device, but at the same time, given the low pre-paid price point, we suspect it will make a nice handset for those trying to avoid shelling out the big bucks.
