During the all-important holiday season in December, we found out that the Brits just can’t get enough of Samsung’s Android offerings. As per a recent mystery shopper survey done by Informa Telecoms and Media, we now learn that UK retailers seem to share the same love for all things Samsung.
The surveyed retailers include John Lewis, Everything Everywere, O2, 3, Maplins, PC World, Carphone Warehouse, and Phones4U. According to the mystery shoppers, who asked the stores to make a recommendation of three smartphones or tablets, Samsung’s handsets were recommended more than any other devices from competing manufacturers.
The most recommended phones were the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2, while the Apple iPhone 5 – being their closest competitor here — was only recommended by two retailers, 3 and Phones4U. This despite “an in-store advertising campaign and recent product launch”, said Informa’s research analyst Julian Jest.
The research firm also said that it’s likely that the sales assistants “see the Samsung devices as a safe bet to earn greater commissions”. Of course, we’d like to think that the popularity of the Galaxy S3 and Note 2 can be attributed to the fact that these are two plain awesome devices.
