The Asus Padfone 2 was launched in October of last year. Although it is currently only available in a handful of markets, it doesn’t stop the smartphone-cum-tablet device from hitting the million mark.
According to DigiTimes, the Padfone 2 is now close to passing the all-important 1 million units sold milestone worldwide. In case you’re wondering, the estimated sales figure was provided by anonymous supply chain makers in Taiwan, not Asus.
It’s always a great joy to read that an innovative device like the Padfone 2 gets the recognition it deserves from customers. What we have to remember is that DigiTimes isn’t always the most reliable source of information. However, it does strike gold from time to time.
If it’s true that the Padfone 2 is selling like hotcakes, it gives more reason for the company to hurry up and release it in more countries. We’re sure there are folks out there who are eager to part ways with close to $1000 to grab the combo device. And if it’s as successful as the report says, we may not hear about the sequel at the upcoming MWC 2013.
