The first-gen LG Lucid hasn’t exactly been Verizon’s biggest box-office hit (or LG’s, for that matter), but rumors about a follow-up have been floating around for quite some time now. The Lucid 2 was said to be one and the same as the recently unveiled Optimus F5, but, if we are to trust a newly emerged report, there’s going to be at least one big difference between the two.

According to a couple of leaked Verizon internal pics that look legit at a first glance, the Lucid 2 will be packing a hefty 2,460 mAh battery. That’s a lot bigger than the 1,700 mAh ticker inside the first-gen Lucid and is also significantly larger than the 2,150 mAh battery of the Optimus F5.
Other than that, everything seems to point at the Lucid 2 being just a rebranded F5. There’s the same 4.3-inch AH-IPS panel with 960 x 540 pixels resolution, a dual-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon S4 CPU beneath the hood, on-board Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and a 1.3 MP camera on the phone’s front.

Geek.com also says the second-gen Lucid will allow the extension of the on-board storage with up to 64 GB and will support wireless charging. The rest of the specs and features are a mystery, but our guess is they will be the same as on the Optimus F5 – 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal memory, 4G LTE, 5 MP rear camera.
The upping of the battery capacity should not add too much heft to the Lucid 2, expected to tip the scale at 4.5 ounces and measure 0.39 inches thick. To get a clearer idea of how the phone will look, check out our Optimus F5 hands-on video below.
The LG Lucid 2 is allegedly slated for an April 5 release on Verizon. Pricing is unknown, but we’re ready to bet Big Red won’t be selling the mid-ranger for more than $50 with contracts. Any prospective buyers out there?
