A host of Google apps have already gotten updated today, and now Movies & TV and Sound Search have been added updated as well.
A few things have changed in the Movies & TV app. If you’re using the app on a tablet, you can now pause movies to access Google Now-like information, as Google’s Knowledge Graph has been added to the app. Instead of pulling up cards with information from the a movie’s metadata, Google is using facial recognition to pull up info on actors and Sound Search to pull up the music played in a movie.
The information cards are similar to cards that would be displayed in Google Search or Google Now. Google says that the feature is only available in the U.S. and that the feature will be on “hundreds of movies” with more being added every day. The feature unfortunately only works on devices running Android 4.0 or higher.
Considering that the Movies & TV app is using Sound Search to find music played in movies, we’ll guess that the Sound Search update has something to deal with that and presumably a few bug fixes too. You can head on over to the Google Play Store to get the updates now.
