HTC Desire X gets an official ‘first look’ video, still no pricing and ETA announced

If Samsung doesn’t have that much competition in the high-end niche of the Android smartphone market, the mid-range sector is getting more crowded and competitive by the day. HTC is shaping up to be one of Sammy’s toughest opponents here, with the freshly unveiled Desire X looking to get that balance between elegance, power and affordability just right.

We haven’t had the chance to compile a thorough review of the Desire X or even get some one-on-one time with it at the IFA 2012, but HTC has done us a favor and has put an official “first look” video of the phone up on YouTube.
As one would expect, the clip doesn’t provide much insight into the phone’s actual performance, but it does allow us to have a better look at its “body” than the one we got from the first couple of press shots. We still can’t say the Desire X looks very impressive or unique (not to mention the rather modest spec sheet), but people seem to be liking its design. The vast majority of the YouTube comments say that the Desire X is beautiful, elegant and/or sleek, so HTC might have hit a home-run when no one expected it. Then again, there are also those that complain about a couple of technical shortcomings, like the lack of a front-facing camera or the meager battery. Love it or hate it, the Desire X might be a hit with tech users on a budget – that is provided HTC will get its price right.
