Nexus 7 4G LTE and new Nexus-branded smartphones – Samsung, Sony, LG – coming to Verizon soon?

September is a very busy month when it comes to media events announcing new products targeting the Christmas shopping season but also when it comes to rumors related to upcoming devices.
With that in mind, we’ll remind you that Motorola and Google held yesterday their first joint media event since the extraordinarily expensive $12.5 billion buyout was completed to announced a variety of RAZR-branded devices, but no Nexus device, as some people may have hoped for – it’s worth mentioning there were no pre-event rumors pointing to such a handset, but one can always hope.

Another Motorola presser will follow on September 18, although we don’t expect any Nexus device to be unveiled during it.
Google made it clear, time and time again, that it will not favor Motorola in any way now that the company has become one of its subsidiaries, which may mean no Motorola Nexus smartphone or tablet may hit stores any time soon.
But rumors continue to suggest that other OEMs, namely Samsung, Sony and LG, could work on their own Nexus-branded devices. Moreover, a Nexus 7 tablet with wireless connectivity is also expected to hit stores in the following weeks, probably as a direct response to Amazon’s upcoming Kindle Fire 2 and Apple’s rumored iPad Mini – both of which are expected to sport 3G/4G features.
Should such devices be announced by the end of the year, then Verizon, the nation’s largest mobile operator, will surely want to carry some of them, if not all, so it can convince as many of its subscribers but also other customers to sign up for a 4G LTE device.

Droid-Life has found a Verizon memo that makes reference to Nexus devices, without explicitly mentioning any of them. Here’s what the paragraph that interests us reads:

Effective 9/6, a suite of Amazon apps will come preloaded on one dedicated home screen for all newly launched Android devices. Note: Google experience devices and tablets are excluded.

What do we learn from it? First, that more crapware will be pre-loaded on future Android devices launched by Verizon – Google must be going bonkers when hearing about this – but, secondly, that Verizon will launch new Nexus-branded devices.
Droid-Life wonders whether the note inside that paragraph refers to existing devices, such as the Motorola Xoom or Galaxy Nexus, that offer a pure Google experience, or whether it refers to upcoming devices.
I believe it’s about future devices, and it’s not just wishful thinking. Let’s read that paragraph again in a more simplified manner: effective 9/6, Amazon crapware will be pre-installed on all “newly launched Android devices,” excluding Google experience devices and tablets.
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus or the Motorola Xoom are not “newly launched.” They are very old, in Android years, so the memo can’t refer to them.
Moreover, since the memo has just been issued, it sort of prefaces the upcoming busy season for Verizon. Therefore, it wouldn’t be out of this world to expect a variety of Android devices to launch in time for Christmas, including new Nexus devices. So don’t be surprised if a Galaxy Nexus 2, an Xperia Nexus, an Optimus Nexus or a Nexus 7 4G LTE  make it to Verizon this holiday season.
