Back in June, Android Authority reported that Verizon would soon offer an HTC Rezound price cut, bringing it to just $79.99 with a new two-year contract. This seemed like a bargain considering the Rezound was priced at $199 originally. For whatever reason, months passed without Verizon discounting the handset until last weekend, when the carrier slashed the price as expected.
What do you get for $79.99? The Rezound is a 4.3-inch smartphone that packs an LTE punch, enough said, right? HTC might be struggling right now, but that doesn’t detract from the fact that this is a quality phone at an exceptionally low price. The HTC Rezound features a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM8660 Snapdragon, 1GB of RAM, 1280 x 720 pixels resolution, 16GB of storage, an 8MP rear-facing cam, a 1620mAh battery and microSD.
Honestly, the Rezound has only improved with age. Thanks to recent software updates, the Rezound runs Android 4.0 ICS (instead of Gingerbread) and has even added global roaming capabilities in a recent update.
Sure, it’s not the most powerful smartphone on the market. Devices like the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 will blow it away, but good luck finding either of them for such a bargain price.
Does the HTC Rezound price cut make it the cheapest 4G phone on offer through Verizon? No, the new Samsung Galaxy Stellar is free with a two-year contract (through rebate) and offers 4G LTE too. Keep in mind that the Rezound is quite a bit more powerful, even if it costs a little more.
What do you think? Interested in the Rezound at the new price or does the Galaxy Stellar seem like a better deal?
