The Galaxy Note 2 is Samsung’s latest addition to its high-end Android family of Galaxy-branded devices. Announced at IFA 2012 in Berlin last week, the phone doesn’t have official release dates and pricing for most markets yet.

We do know the device is going to be available in Europe at some point in October, with U.S. buyers to get it by the end of the year. So far we’ve been officially told that the phablet will be available from Vodafone in Germany and from Three and O2 in the UK, but we expect more and more European carriers to offer the device this holiday season.

As for U.S. mobile operators, we would expect AT&T to also carry the device considering it was the first to offer the original Galaxy Note to American buyers. We’ve also heard rumors saying that T-Mobile, who was late to jump on the Galaxy Note train, will launch the Galaxy Note 2 at some point in the future.

Today we hear, via xda-developers, that Sprint could also stock the new phablet at some point later this year. An unannounced device was spotted, the SPH-L900, and apparently the codename stands for Sprint’s Galaxy Note 2 version. Neither Sprint nor Samsung have confirmed the rumor, so we look forward to see more official details on the matter.

Meanwhile, here are the reported specs and features of the SPH-L900:

Exynos4412 processor
1280×720 resolution
Android 4.1.1!
Support for EVDO, DOrA, WiFi and LTE!
2 GB RAM
16 GB HDD (with expansion slot up to 32 GB)
8 Megapixel camera

In case it sounds all too familiar, then it’s because these are mostly the specs of the Galaxy Note 2 – not counting the CDMA support easily spotted above.

The Galaxy Note 2 appears to have captured the interest of most U.S. carriers, so we’re definitely interested to see whether the second Samsung phablet will get an almost simultaneous launch in the region, at least with the Big Four. Or at least three of them, as Verizon has already announced its 5-inch LG phablet, and a similar device from HTC seems to be on the way.

Are you buying a Galaxy Note 2? What U.S. carrier will you be choosing?
