Anyone keeping count of all of Huawei’s new Ascend phones? Well, you can add one more to the list. This new guy is simply called the Ascend Plus, although nothing about it feels like a “plus” over Huawei devices released this year. Or last year, for that reason.
The (ev) leaked 4-incher is expected to “rock” a 1 GHz processor (probably single-core), 4 GB of on-board storage (expandable via microSD), a 5 MP rear-facing camera and Android 4.0 ICS. That sounds lower-end than low-end, but it could have been worse, we guess. The thing could have run Gingerbread, right?
And yet the Ascend Plus might be a big deal for the US carrier that’s supposed to offer it soon – TracFone. The number five wireless service provider in the States doesn’t really have the reputation of a power network, so the new 4-incher could be one of the more impressive devices in its line-up.
We’re guessing TracFone is going to sell the Ascend Plus under the StraightTalk and/or Net10 Wireless service brands, but we know nothing about pricing or release dates. Our best guesstimate as far as pricing goes is $200 (with prepaid plans), but we wouldn’t rule out $150 seeing as the Ascend Y is worth just 100 bucks. Any takers?
