The stakes are higher than ever for HTC’s flagship, confirmed to be the One and only of its kind, but so far the 4.7-incher looks like it can handle the pressure. Expected to land on 185 networks and retailers by the end of March, the One is closing in on its UK release.
Vodafone is the latest British carrier to put the thing up for pre-order, making on-contract pricing also official. There are four different options for people looking to tie themselves up to a 24-month carrier agreement, all with their upsides and downsides.
If you want to pay nothing upfront, you’ll have to cough up £42 each month, which will buy you unlimited minutes and texts, as well as 2 GB of data. Meanwhile, if you want more affordable plans and don’t mind shelling out some cash upon signing the contract, you can choose to pay £37, £33 or £29 monthly fees.
The upfront payment is £69, £129 and £179 respectively for these three plans. Meanwhile, Vodafone is yet to announce Pay as you go pricing, unlike Three, who is charging £479.99 for the SIM-free One model.
Three seems to have the upper hand when it comes to on-contract prices too, even though GB’s fourth largest network doesn’t offer the One for free. The two options on Three require down payments of £69 and monthly fees of £34 or £36.
March 15 is the official shipping date, but don’t be surprised if one of the four carriers scheduled to sell the phone (Vodafone, Three, EE, and O2) will look to jump the gun. Can you feel the excitement in the air?
