Excited about the ZTE Grand Memo featuring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800? Sorry if you got your hopes up, but it’s not happening after all.
ZTE recently announced to the world that their new flagship device would feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, making it the first handset to arrive with this amazing new chipset. As it turns out the processor is really a Snapdragon 600, as later confirmed by both Qualcomm and ZTE. Someone at the company seems to have messed up royally and yet ZTE’s press release still hasn’t been updated to address the fact that the specs are totally wrong.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, the trail of misinformation doesn’t end there.
According to Android Police, the ZTE Grand Memo as shown at MWC was actually running on the Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064, not the Snapdragon 600. Additionally, the units on display only had 1GB of RAM onboard, not the 2GB the press release claims the handset features.
Talk about massively botching a launch and creating tons of confusion in the process. You have to wonder, what’s really going to be under the hood of the ZTE Grand Memo when it launches. Were the units on display simply older models that hadn’t seen the upgrade to the 600? Are we getting 1GB or 2GB of RAM with this thing?
For now, we remain a bit in the dark over what ZTE is really bringing to the table with the Grand Memo, but as it stands, you are probably better off looking elsewhere for your next smartphone. What do you think of this massive mixup on ZTE’s part?
