Google Play Services now includes Google+ Sign-in

All of you must have noticed that rating or reviewing an app on the Google Play Store now uses your Google+ profile. Now, Android developers have taken Google+ integration one step further in Google Play Services with “Google+ Sign-in,” that let’s you sign into an Android app with your Google credentials, allowing for an even better experience.

Some of the features of Google+Sign-in include -

• OTA install from the website – Users will be able to download apps directly from the app developer’s website, after signing in with their Google+ account, allowing for a hassle-free desktop-to-mobile experience
• App customization – Signing in with your Google account will bring your Google+ information with you, including your public profile, and people in your circles, allowing you to connect with friends while using the app.
• Interactive posts – Shares from an app now include features like listen, check-in, and custom thumbnails, and brand attribution, which help the share stand out in your Google+ stream. Clicking on an interactive post will also link to the specific content in the app.
• App activities – Your app activities can now be controlled to be shown to only people you specify in your circles.

Apart from these features that enhance everyday user experience, a feature targeted specifically for app developers is Google+ Platform Insight for your app, allowing you to measure and monitor downloads, total users, interactive post performance, and other metrics.

Other than Google+ Sign-In, another feature of the latest release of Google Play services, taking it to version 3.0, is Google Maps API version 2, which includes more than 20 bug fixes which improves map rendering and behavior of markers and information windows.
